P Palos Islamic Center is honored to offer Marriage (Nikah) services. We warmly invite couples to schedule an appointment with our Imam. In accordance with Islamic guidelines, please bring two Muslim witnesses. While it is preferred that the parents of the bride and groom attend the ceremony, if that is not possible, their consent should be obtained beforehand. For brides from the People of the Book (Ahle-Kitab, i.e., Christian or Jewish faiths), the Imam will provide a brief introduction to Islam prior to the ceremony.
Requirements for the Nikah Ceremony:
Mahr (Dowry): The Mahr amount should be agreed upon by the bride and groom prior to the ceremony.
Marriage License: A valid county-issued marriage license or official marriage certificate is required.
Witnesses: Two Muslim witnesses with valid identification.
Identification: Valid photo IDs for both the bride and groom (e.g., driver’s license, passport).
At the conclusion of the ceremony, a Marriage Agreement (Nikah Nama) will be presented to the couple.
